Based on Milan Kundera's novel of the same name, in 1968, Tomas, a Prague surgeon, lives for the pleasure of chasing women and enjoying sexual pleasure. Painter Sabina is Tomas's confidante, but during a visit to a spa, Tomas befriends waitress Teresa.
