EN: When I get married, I want a nice middle-aged man with gobs of dough, preferably one who's been married before and had a simply lousy time. Can five kids for all I care.

EN: Going to a man's apartment almost always ends in one of two ways. Either the girl is willing to lose her virtue, or she fights for it. Well, I don't want to lose mine, and I think it's vulgar to fight for it, so I always put my cards on the table.

EN: Frankly, my child, I felt a sudden powerful and very ignoble desire to kiss you till your lips were somewhat bruised.

EN: When you're carrying the ball, you don't like to lose it on a fumble in a casual bed.

EN: If I was the last man on earth and there were a million women left, you'd be fighting tooth and claw with every single one of them for the privilege of becoming my mate. You'd be panting to repopulate the world.

EN: Of course, the eskimos are the only civilized race. They have the good sense to sell their daughters at birth.

EN: You know, there's a popular theory that nice little girls are always led astray by middle-aged playboys. That isn't so. Only playboys have an instinctive respect for innocence.

EN: Gratitude, affection, a terrific desire to repay you someday somehow. But it's a gift, not a loan.

EN: Suspicions. The lurking doubt.

EN: I wonder why it is that young men are always cautioned against bad girls. Anyone can handle a bad girl. It's the good girls men ought to be warned against.

EN: And remember that understanding is almost as precious as virtue.

EN: You know what I thought when you smiled at me in front of that jewelry shop yesterday? Well, anyway, I thought to myself, "Now, that's the kind of smile I'd like with my orange juice every morning."
